What’s the first thing you should quit if you want to become more successful?

3 Easy things to do to improve your life
This is where I come in.
Chances are you are a serial introvert. There are more introverts than there are extroverts in our society, so why not listen to those introverts?

Now in this series, I’m working to improve my life by working harder. I make a conscious effort to be healthier, lose weight, and practice self-care. (Ok, so if you’re hearing that for the first time, what do I mean by that?)

It may take a bit of time to be healthy and lose weight, but it will eventually happen.

I started eating out less, because in the past I’ve fallen in the trap of eating out whenever I went out for a meal. Before I did this, my store location was so far away that there would be a line out the door every time I went out for dinner.

Losing the last five pounds is only one step - the next thing I’m going to start is staying in the gym.

When I started to work out, it was for enjoyment. That meant I could just go and get the same amount of time each day that I spent reading. Now, I’m going to be getting in the gym an average of 4 times a week. I’m not too proud of how much I gain each week, but it’s starting to pay off.

The next thing I’m going to do is prioritize my time more. Before I started working out, I would just sit around, not doing much else than watching TV, scrolling through social media, or reading in my bedroom.

If you’re an introvert like me, I highly recommend doing this for one week. If the results are positive, you’ll likely start to include your time once you return back to your old lifestyle.

The next thing I’m going to change is my closet.

Before I start my workout routine, I just put on my workout clothes, open up the closet, and grab everything. I keep stuff on my hangers so I don’t have to keep doing the same thing every day.

For each style of workout, I try to wear two different outfits, which helps keep me from taking two different looks.

Now is also the time to buy new clothes. Not because it will help you achieve some crazy improvement, but because you want to look stylish when you go out with your friends.

The final thing I need to improve on is, I’m going to turn my bedroom into my office.

I love watching TV, even if I hate most of the shows, I just watch it because it’s a distraction. If I’m feeling really busy (like when we’re out for dinner), I will cheat and eat something quick. I always eat fast food while watching TV, which is why I eat so many snacks before bed.

Instead of having watching TV become a distraction, I’m going to be using the time I spend on TV to write or even just catch up on email.

Catch up on emails and write something up if you’re good at it. If you’re struggling with anything, be kind to yourself. Also, consider taking a nap, because you might be a zombie, and I’m guessing you’re working at night. Just don’t pretend.

I feel like I’m constantly scrutinized at the thought of working out or spending more time with my family. As an introvert, I tend to find it hard to motivate myself to do anything.

These habits are why I choose to spend my time off from working out by doing something completely different. I let myself be active only because it is fun. Since I like to do that more than I’m told to by my family, it’s turned out to be more fun, because I actually enjoy spending that much time in the gym.

When I do decide to workout for health reasons, like losing weight, I try to follow through without cheating. If I like something, I stick with it. I also like to be healthy, so I eat healthy meals.

So think about how you spend your time on social media, browsing through TV shows, reading online, and working out. Most of the time you’re doing it outside of work, so make sure it’s something that’s profitable and productive.

Next time you are given an extra hour, or a little extra money, I bet you will make the decision to spend that time on something productive.
