GRSE Journeyman and Driver Recruitment 2026 includes two different employment routes: a two-year stipendiary training arrangement for Journeyman posts and regular appointment with probation for Driver (Vehicle). This distinction matters when comparing the posts, because successful completion of Journeyman training does not mean automatic absorption.

Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited (GRSE), a Navratna CPSE under the Ministry of Defence, has issued Employment Notification No. 2026/05 (J&OP) for Indian nationals. The vacancies cover 14 Journeyman trades and one Driver designation. Candidates should match their NAC/NTC trade or driving experience to the exact post before applying.

নিয়োগ সম্পর্কে: Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited (GRSE) 2026 সালের Employment Notification No. 2026/05 (J&OP) প্রকাশ করেছে।

About the Recruitment

Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited builds warships and operates as a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Defence. Employment Notification No. 2026/05 (J&OP) covers trade-based Journeyman engagement and a separate Driver (Vehicle) appointment.

The Journeyman route begins with two years of fixed-stipend training. After successful completion, candidates may be absorbed into the Semi-skilled (SSK) grade, subject to performance, organisational requirements, vacancies, medical fitness and disciplinary/vigilance clearance. The Driver post is regular, with a one-year probation period. These are different service arrangements, so applicants should read the conditions for their chosen designation rather than treating all 58 posts as the same type of job.

The listed work locations include GRSE units, projects and locations such as Raichak and Timber Pond. The written test is planned for Kolkata and Ranchi; the management may change the test centre based on the number of responses.

Analyst Opinion: Is This Recruitment for You?

The main point to consider is the difference between trade training and regular appointment. Journeyman applicants should first confirm that the trade printed on their NAC/NTC certificate matches one of the advertised trades. A similar-sounding trade should not be assumed to qualify unless it appears in the relevant post's list.

Driver (Vehicle) applicants face a separate experience requirement: a valid Commercial LMV Driving Licence and at least six years of post-qualification experience driving light and heavy motor vehicles. They should also be able to establish that experience through the required certificates. For Journeyman candidates, absorption into the SSK grade is possible after training, but it depends on the conditions stated by GRSE and is not automatic. The post type and the exact eligibility conditions should therefore guide the choice.

Before You Apply: Check These Points

These conditions directly affect whether an application can be considered:

  • Match the exact NAC/NTC trade printed against the chosen Journeyman post; the required trade differs across the 14 designations.
  • Use 01 October 2026 as the age and qualification cut-off date, and check the applicable category limit and relaxation.
  • Driver (Vehicle) applicants must meet the Commercial LMV licence and six-year post-qualification driving-experience conditions, with certificates that establish the experience.
  • Do not submit multiple applications for the same post/trade; the notice allows applications for different posts where the candidate is eligible.
  • Declare all qualifications held, because the stated higher professional qualifications make candidates ineligible and non-declaration can invalidate selection.
  • Complete the online form and applicable fee payment by 28 November 2026 at 23:59 hrs; the ₹472 fee is non-refundable.
