Educational Qualification
Qualification is post-specific — full-time ITI (NCVT/SCVT) trades for Junior Maintainer posts, and 3-year diploma / B.E./B.Tech / specified graduate and PG streams for Supervisor-I posts, as detailed in the Vacancy Details tables above. Only full-time regular courses from UGC/AICTE/statutory-council institutions are accepted; part-time, distance or correspondence qualifications are not accepted, except for eligible serving NCRTC staff.
Other Eligibility Conditions
- Junior Maintainer applicants who hold a diploma/degree but do not hold the prescribed ITI trade certificate are not eligible.
- The essential qualification must have been obtained on or before 10 September 2026.
- Non-Indian nationals and candidates below 18 years cannot apply.
- Candidates whose age exceeds 50 years after every permitted relaxation cannot apply.
- OBC (Creamy Layer) candidates claiming OBC reservation are not eligible for that reservation and must apply as UR.
- PwBD candidates (40%+ disability in identified categories) have reserved seats on D02, D03, D05 and C08; age relaxation also applies to other identified Supervisor posts under Notice 33/2026.
- Ex-Servicemen get age relaxation (military service + 3 years, capped at 50 years); fee remains ₹500 unless the candidate is also SC/ST/PwBD.
- Serving NCRTC staff with 1+ year of service as on 10 September 2026 get extra age relaxation equal to completed years in NCRTC, and the full-time qualification rule is relaxed for them.

Age Calculation Date: 10 September 2026. Cumulative relaxation is allowed, but after every concession the upper age must not cross 50 years. Reserved-category candidates who apply against an unreserved vacancy get no age or qualifying-mark relaxation.
Example: A 27-year-old UR candidate born on 11 September 1998 is eligible (within the 28-year limit as on 10 September 2026). A 29-year-old UR candidate born on 09 September 1997 is not eligible (exceeds the maximum age by 1 year).
Salary / Pay Scale
NCRTC pays these posts on its own IDA scales, not the 7th CPC. Initial basic pay is ₹37,000 for S1 (Supervisor-I) and ₹18,250 for NS3 (Junior Maintainer). Variable DA, HRA and cafeteria perks are added at company rates, and posting can be anywhere NCRTC operates.

Selection is a chain of stages, not a single exam:

- Offer, surety bond and joining, followed by on-the-job training

Crossing the qualifying percentage does not guarantee a medical call; NCRTC will apply a ratio against vacancies and category-wise merit. Test cities (candidates give five preferences): Delhi-NCR, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kanpur, Agra, Vadodara, Indore, Thane, Pune, Guwahati, Raipur (Chhattisgarh), Cuttack, Harohalli, Jaipur and Patiala. NCRTC can add, drop or reassign centres, and preferences cannot be changed later.

Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Applying for Junior Maintainer with only a diploma/B.Tech and no matching ITI — the notice is explicit that without ITI, higher qualification is ignored.
- Uploading a 20–50 KB photo when the form asks for 100–200 KB.
- Paying once and selecting two posts inside one form — each post needs its own fee.
- Applying for two posts and assuming you can sit two CBTs — CBTs may be on the same date and time, so you may be able to appear for one post only.
- Using a part-time or distance diploma — only full-time regular courses from UGC/AICTE/statutory-council institutions count, except for eligible NCRTC staff.

Document alert: EWS certificates issued in an old financial year are a common DV failure. OBC certificates must be in the central-government appointment format, not a state-only format.
