About the Recruitment

Satish Dhawan Space Centre SHAR, under the Department of Space and ISRO, has issued Notification No. SDSC SHAR/SCF/P&GA-II/Apprentice/2026 for engagement of apprentices under the Apprentices Act, 1961 and the Amendment Act, 1973.

The positions cover six apprenticeship categories and different educational backgrounds. Candidates are required to complete 12 months of training after execution of the apprenticeship contract. This is an apprenticeship engagement, not an appointment to a regular government post.

The recruitment is based at Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. The selection process uses academic scores to prepare category-wise merit lists, followed by document verification.

Analyst Opinion: Is This Recruitment for You?

The six categories provide different entry routes for engineering graduates, general graduates, diploma holders, ITI candidates and vocational certificate holders. Applicants should identify the exact category and discipline matching their qualification rather than choosing a category only because its vacancy count is higher.

The academic-merit selection method makes the marks recorded in the qualifying certificates particularly relevant. The restriction on previous apprenticeship training and one year or more of organisational experience is another condition that applicants should assess before registering.

Applicants should also understand the nature of the engagement: the training period is fixed at 12 months, and completion does not create a claim to permanent, temporary or ad hoc employment at SDSC SHAR or another ISRO/Department of Space centre.
